High Performance Half Semi Gantry Crane in Workshop

Post time: Feb-25-2025

A semi gantry crane is a type of overhead crane with a unique structure. One side of its legs is mounted on wheels or rails, allowing it to move freely, while the other side is supported by a runway system connected to the building columns or the side wall of the building structure. This design offers significant advantages in space utilization by effectively saving valuable floor and workspace. As a result, it is particularly well-suited for environments with limited space, such as indoor workshops. Semi gantry cranes are versatile and can be used in various operational settings, including heavy fabrication applications and outdoor yards (such as rail yards, shipping/container yards, steel yards, and scrap yards).

Additionally, the design allows forklifts and other motorized vehicles to work and pass underneath the crane without obstruction.

Features

Structure: The semi gantry crane utilizes the existing building structure as one side of the support, saving floor space and reducing costs.

Application: Suitable for both indoor and outdoor settings, versatile for various environments.

Flexibility: Provides larger floorspace for forklifts, trucks, or other machinery to move freely around the site.

Cost: Compared with full gantry crane, single leg gantry crane has lower material and transportation cost.

Maintenance: Easy to maintain, with fewer components requiring attention.

Components

Gantry Structure (Main Beams and Legs): The gantry structure of the single leg gantry crane is the backbone that provides the necessary strength and stability for heavy lifting. It consists of two key components: main beams and legs.

Trolley and Hoisting Mechanism: The trolley is a movable platform that travels along the crane’s main beams, carrying the hoisting mechanism. The hoisting system is responsible for lifting and lowering loads with precision and control.

End Truck: Located at each end of the crane, the end trucks enable the warehouse gantry crane to travel along the rails using a set of wheels that run smoothly on the tracks. Depending on the crane’s capacity, each end truck can be equipped with 2, 4, or 8 wheels, ensuring optimal stability and performance.

Hook: The hook is ideal for general lifting tasks, providing a reliable connection for lifting and moving loads safely.

Controls: Control boxs are typically mounted on the warehouse gantry crane or hoist and the pendant or remote console allows the operator to run the crane. The controls operate the drive and hoist motors, and can control Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to control hoist speed for precise load positioning.
