Structure

Motor:The top running bridge crane travel drive adopts a three-in-one drive device, the reducer and the wheel are directly connected, and the reducer and the end beam are assembled with a torque arm, which has the advantages of high transmission efficiency, low noise, and maintenance-free.

End beam: The top running bridge crane end beam assembly adopts a rectangular tube structure, which does not require welding. It is processed by a boring and milling CNC lathe, which has the advantages of high precision and uniform force.

Wheels : The wheels of the top running bridge crane are made of forged 40Cr alloy steel material, which has undergone overall quenching and tempering treatment, with advantages such as wear resistance and high hardness. The wheel bearings adopt self-aligning tapered roller bearings, which can automatically adjust the levelness of the crane.

Electric box : The crane electrical control adopts frequency converter control. The running speed, lifting speed and double speed of the crane can be adjusted by the frequency converter.

Application of Top Running Bridge Cranes in the Steel Industry

Top running bridge cranes play a critical role throughout the entire steel production and processing workflow. From raw material handling to finished product shipping, these cranes ensure safe, efficient, and precise material movement in every stage.

1. Raw Material Handling

In the initial stage, top running cranes are used to unload and transport raw materials such as iron ore, coal, and scrap steel. Their high load capacity and long-span design allow them to move bulk materials quickly and cover large storage yards or stockpiles.

2. Melting and Refining Process

During the smelting process in the blast furnace and converter sections, cranes are required to handle ladles of molten metal. Specialized ladle handling cranes—typically top running designs—are essential for lifting, transporting, and tilting molten iron or steel with absolute stability and precision.

3. Casting Area

In the continuous casting workshop, top running cranes are used to transfer ladles and tundishes to the caster. They must withstand high ambient temperatures and operate continuously to support the casting sequence, often equipped with redundant drive systems and heat-resistant components.

4. Rolling Mill Operations

After casting, steel slabs or billets are transferred to the rolling mill. Top running bridge cranes transport these semi-finished products between heating furnaces, rolling stands, and cooling beds. Their high precision and automated positioning systems improve operational efficiency and product quality.

5. Finished Product Storage and Shipping

In the final stage, top running cranes are used to stack and load finished products such as coils, plates, bars, or pipes. With magnetic or mechanical grabs, these cranes can handle products safely and rapidly, reducing manual labor and improving turnaround time in warehouses and shipping areas.

6. Maintenance and Auxiliary Applications

Top running cranes also assist in maintenance operations by lifting heavy equipment components such as motors, gearboxes, or casting parts. They are a vital part of ensuring overall plant reliability and uptime.
