Product Details and Features

Rubber-tyred gantries (RTGs) and harbor cranes can offer needed horsepower and flexibility for keeping freight moving. Material moving equipment comes in a variety of styles and sizes, ranging from smaller, electrically powered forklifts that never see daylight, to cross-carriers, to even larger, Pneumatic Tire Gantry capable of moving up to 20,000 pounds. Often, these pieces are equipped with steel wheels for running on steel tracks, but SEVENCRANE has also supplied pneumatic tires, rubber, and polyurethane wheels, rail assemblies, and rollers.

Application

On pneumatic tires, transtainers have wide range of motion and can be called an RTG, which is an acronym of Rubber-Tyre Gantry Crane. Embodiments of this claim include an apparatus to provide electrical power from ashore power source to a Pneumatic Tire Gantry crane at relatively low voltage, thus permitting the RTG crane to disconnect from one electrical source of electrical power and reconnect with a different electrical source without disrupting the connection to the high-voltage wire. A newer RTG crane having a diesel engine and an AC generator can be constructed for operation by an electric catenary having a DC output, such that an RTG crane can execute lane crossing operations without the need of a high voltage external source of power input.

Product Process

Longevity is also a major consideration: tires used in the port straddle carriers and the rubber-tired cranes on the docks, for example, need to include additives to withstand the tearing caused by UV. For example, tires on rubber-tired gantries need to be capable of providing grip when carrying large loads, yet able to handle huge amounts of torque when turning 90 degrees while standing still.

Before buying a pneumatic tire gantry crane, it is important to think about how high you will need it to lift the load. Before settling on a rubber tyre gantry crane, ensure it is perfect for your immediate job as well as others that might come up in the same work.
