A Rubber Tyre Gantry Crane/RTG (crane), or sometimes a transtainer, is a mobile, wheeled, crane that operates on the ground or stacks intermodal containers. Due to the mobility of the rubber tyred gantry crane, a rubber tyred gantry crane can be moved to remote locations and used to load or unload intermodal containers from vessels. Unlike rail-mounted gantry cranes that have fixed tracks, the rubber tyred gantry crane is a type of mobile gantry crane that uses the rubber chassis for traveling, making the materials handling more flexible, efficient, and secure.
